The Times of India is confident about itself and its market position. It speaks facts.

The Hindu is paranoid and fixated on delivering what its 300,000 readers supposedly want. It can't afford to lose this 300,000 as it has not been able to get newer readers. If it cannot retain its traditional 300,000, then its trajectory becomes wretched. Some of the 300,000 were just waiting for such a reassurance that not all is lost. The editor would have spent quite a lot of time in fashioning this case for his clientele. The fellow has no way of knowing the proportion of his clientele who are able to think by themselves. hence, the fellow plays it safe and positions himself at the extreme end. For, he has all to lose, if the 300,000 start trickling away.

The New Indian Express is going nowhere. It will serve something near about 200,000 people. These are the ones who like swamy gurumurthy and konraad elst. So, it just delivers a standard opinion that does itself no harm or good. This fellow has no necessity to try hard to make a case. The bland statement is enough. In a way, this fellow has the best position. Nothing to lose.his 200,000 are not going anywhere. they know that once in a month, swamy, gurumurthy, or the equivalent of a koenraad elst will come along. ensuring that is the job of the editor.

All the three editors are involved in the game of capitalism, and hence would have a clear idea of the mass murder that was committed by the CAG on the people of our country. Due to varying states of their position in the market, their opinion is packaged accordingly.

What is the final summary.

These papers are items of Time Pass. Which all of us will patronise as long as there is nothing offensive to our state of existence. A popular opinion evolves and spreads across the population, completely unrelated to the pretensions of media, especially those who pretend that they are somehow elevated from the rest.


A serious newspaper headed by a serious editor comes out with analytic articles. this is meritorious journalism. the fourth pillar of democracy.

For this guy, the CAG is the avatar of the creator. whatever the CAG says is the divine gospel.

Such a spineless character such as Siddharth Varadarajan can never have been seen at the helm of any newspaper.

The Hindu is down to the capacity to do anything now.

These cowards are rootless and were going as long as they had no competition, running a decent newspaper, which all of us respected.

Now, with competition, the Hindu is feeling the hopelessness of its rootlessness.

In its heyday, and mostly in 2009, the newspaper alienated sections of TamilNadu which were keenly following the Eelam war with a shameless adulation of Rajapakse.

At the same time, the Times Of India came in and gave the Hindu a rude awakening.

With the stupor of losing everything, the Hindu has now become a nervous wreck, and its present editor has fallen to writing editorials such as these, in the hope of attracting the new readers.

siddharth varadarajan is lord of all he surveys

there is no need for 9am-9pm breaking news anymore. these people at the electronic media must be given counselling and asked to put breaking news only if some very major event takes place.

we are led to confirming that whatever the crony has written is notional and presumptive, as are the losses from the 2g spectrum allocation.

the crony also tells,"Sounds more like the argument now making the rounds in some Tamil Nadu villages that nothing was looted in the 2G scam — that's the money translating into cheaper calls for the public."

this sad crony is a one-sided buffoon, that is the conclusion. he cannot write about average revenue per user before A Raja took over and ARPU  now. but, he surely can   avoid writing that the people do not know as mush as he does.

in the globalized world, where all of us are interlinked with the world economy, we have the weird, bizarre and dubious spectacle of a journalist siddharth varadarajan, who writes with absolutely no sense of what happened in the world with respect of telecom auctions. this guy has the loftiness to label as foolish, the statement by the telecom minister and the prime minister that there was zero loss.

call it crony capitalism or capitalism. it is a business enterprise. all the government is interested in is widening the base of service providers. the government is aware of the complexity, and that telecom companies need enormous amounts to function, to make a profit, and to continue to make a profit. at present, this award-winning journalist is happy to give his readers an instalment of his wisdom.

indian democracy will continue to be corroded and eroded, exactly due to this crony journalism, where people are led into a direction by the writer presenting the facts, as he prefers, clouded, shrouded, half chewed out, quarter obfuscated, all while acting to be supremely good and pious and meritorious.

if there is a crony capitalist, then siddharth varadarajan is a crony journalist, who has assumed enought loftiness to label the government with terms like foolish and peddling fiction.

if this crony journalist has even 10 percent of the talent which we might mistakenly attribute to him, then he has to at least give a hint of how telecom auctions and their aftermath have panned out in the predecessor economies of the world.

we have to also add him to the list of illustrious fools of our country, who can summon righteousness , but never common sense and the ability to speak it as it is.

these crony journalists like siddharth varadarajan should realise that it is still not too late to realise hteir folly of acting smart and great.

as far as the congress is concerned, it should realise that there is no alternative to enrolling the real people in the country into the party. the real people vote for the only party that they know has a pan indian presence and that has the spirit of the people in its core being. but, they have to be reached out to in terms of the political developments. otherwise the crony politicians of the bjp and the crony journalists like sidharth varadarajan will twist everything with their instalment information.

The Hindu writes in its editorial that Dr. Singh was fully in the picture when the then Telecommunications Minister decided not to go for auction of a highly valued scarce resource and do all that happened under cover of the ‘first-come, first-served' policy.

The Hindu therefore tells that spectrum must have been auctioned. if that is not a half-baked pronouncement, then there can never be any half-baked pronouncement anymore. this is the editorial of the reputed newspaper.

next, the editorial tells a proper investigation must identify the many beneficiaries in independent India's biggest corruption scandal and bring them to justice.

hence, the Hindu describes this as the biggest corruption scandal. the stupid simpleton who wrote this editorial must be referring to 57000-176000. it is obvious to any body with common sense that only a plain dumb person can talk about a loss for 2g based on what the 3g auction got the government. that is the most fundamental point, among many more, against the premise of 57,000-176,000. even though, the telecom minister tells that there is no loss, his opinion does not matter a whit for the person writing the editorial.

Rasheeda Bhagat writing in the business line tells "Mr Raja stands accused of causing the public exchequer a perceived loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore by resorting to allocation rather than auction of 2G spectrum." she goes on to say this about the DMK,"Along with the 2G scam and other corruption charges against the ruling dispensation, let's not forget the pendulum factor in Tamil Nadu politics."

This writer also talks about raja standing accused of 1.76 lakh crore.

she reinforces the point that a body like the CAG and a debate on the issues raised by it, is  not feasible,possible and workable, when stupidity and idiocy reigns in the land.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI (M) leader, Mr Sitaram Yetchury, said that if the new Communication Minister, Mr Kapil Sibal, was right when he said there was no problem in the allocation of 2G spectrum, then why did the CBI arrest Raja. if he cannot understand that the case is being investigated for procedural lapse and alleged favouritism, he too reveals that he does not have the required calibre for public life. subramanian swamy obviously cannot but welcome the arrest, as that is what he was asking.

why do not the bjp and the aiadmk welcome the arrest? they say it is too little too late.

the opposition and the media in our country believe that truth and honour have nothing to do with the pursuit of a livelihood.

the case seems to be about a few companies who were informed in advance about the date for application submission being advanced? instead of going into the details of this episode that is under investigation, the media circus is all about the 57,000-176,000 broth of the wholly inept CAG.

this is not a case of any ordinary process for application to get a license. this is a new area where every business house wants to have a hand. and not one of them is an expert or has prior know-how in the area. the jostling for a piece of the action would have been extremely intense. the pressures faced by the minister of a billion people, who needs to speed up the reachout of the technology, while also ensuring that there is no cartel, is the crux of the issue.

the minister, if he does not hail from the people, would not have focused on the people. this minister got the ball rolling, with a bit of straying from strict procedure. he is answerable for it and is answering it. why was he needed to be arrested? that, the CBI  will have to state. in the meanwhile, the hindu newspaper, the bjp, the aiadmk and the left, talk about the biggest corruption scandal in the country. it is a sad and sorry picture playing itself out for us. the calibre and the credentials of these groups and entities is being revealed to us, for which we owe a raja.

are the readers herded into one-track thinking, Or Do they just get what they want

when we see the letters written in response to the article by the readers of the hindu, we get the feeling that this is what they want, their daily fix. they need to be venting their pent up feelings at some wrongdoing by some politician. without any wrongdoing by a politician, the daily life of these readers would probably become unbearable.

but surely, there is a danger of a divide being created in society between such educated one-trackers and the rest, who have no overriding need to put up with a change of government, just for the heck of it. This need is fed by the media, which turns government into a punching bag for the middle classes. the government can and should do no good. that will not be allowed, cannot be allowed. so these middle classes need to be righteously outraged on a daily basis. according to this class in society, the government must be gagged and its role is to receive egg on its face. this is the democracy of the middle classes who know it all. what does it benefit them to listen to the opinion of a minister, who can only be a confirmed charlatan.

how to name it

there is an issue. a third party  gave its opinion. one of the involved parties took this to be the gospel truth as it is beneficial to its fortunes. the matter is then brought before the highest judging authority. in the meanwhile, the other involved party states its stand. this statement by way of explanation has been termed egregious folly by the hindu.

how can this be described or understood? the minister of telecom s statement should be evaluated and analysed and then merited for the value contained in it. instead, that the minister of telecom spoke has been made the issue. even now, there is not a single credible media house in our country which can give a balanced view on the 2g issue to the people. all are happy with just targeting personalities and having a bit of the spotlight. why are our media folk so afraid that a minister's statement by way of explanation will derail the case. if there is wrongdoing, it is bound to come out. are they not confident about that? is that all they know about the system in our country. 

so, in a democracy, the government should be a wounded bystander, as all and sundry level all kinds of abuse and misinterpretations. this is what the editor of the hindu wants, the democratically elected government should keep its mouth shut on a matter involving itself, because the opposition, the media and the courts are seized of the matter. then, why have a government. such a patently illogical advice is tendered by a newspaper that can be called among the best in our country.
