I read in NEWSWEEK about the killing of a family of mountain gorillas in congo.
Laurent Kabila was assasinated a few years back and his son is in power now.
A new rebel has begun operating in the reserve park where the guerillas were killed according to the article.
The rebels fighting governments in Africa operate in conditions of total anarchy,in Sierra Leone they went on a maiming spree. Here the target for revenue seems to be the forests and charcoal.
The photos of villagers around the 600 pound fallen gorilla were poignant. The male whom the rangers had named Senkekwe had one arm on his chest probably beating on it.
Then I came across this article which gives a totally different scenario.
