indias largest state

the results are going to be out tomorrow for the assembly elections of uttar pradesh.
there is one thing that i feel has not figured in the psephologists calculations.that is the impact of the reservation issue.the upper castes seem to be considerably agitated on the issue .the feeling arises that this could have led to strategic polling in favour of the bjp.since the minority vote is apparently split between the sp and bsp,the bjp might have benefited from this.this could be a significant trend only if the rural electorate is also influenced by this issue.other questions of the capacity of the bjp s leadership and its past record might probably negate this trend.overall, mayawati seems to have the edge in terms of an image of being the best bet for administration.
