Jayalalithaa derailed

Jayalalithaa has upped the ferocity of her attacks on the minority dmk government.
She has either decided that it is now or never or has inklings of some upcoming discomfort in a legal matter.
The aiadmk rightly deserves the description of condemned party which kalaignar gave yesterday.
Interspersed with agitations on civic matters,a stepping up of vociferous slander can be detected.
There is no sign of a healthy democracy in the midst of such extreme displays of animosity.
The aiadmk has not provided any explanations about the promise of the sethusamudram project in its manifesto for the 2006 elections.
The way that jayalalithaa has brought the project into publicity and has attempted to play
politics by arousing passions suggests that there are some troubles ahead of her.
The raising of the issue of security could also probably have been done to get an exemption from personal appearance in bangalore.
The surcharged atmosphere that prevails now will allow the middle classes the leverage to downplay the ordinary episodes of corruption.
